Paris with Ian & Sharon

Wednesday 27 May
TGV train from Lausanne to Paris

Met Ian & Sharon at the Hotel Pavillon Opera at 5 pm, after catching a taxi from Gare de Lyons.
Went for a walk along the Seine River & travelled on the Metro underground (€1.80 per person each trip, no matter how far). Saw Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower & other iconic Parisienne landmarks by night.

Thursday
After an excellent continental breakfast at the hotel, we caught the Metro to Roland Garros to watch the French Open. First watched Isner & Sock from USA on a practice court. Then watched Tomic lose to Kokinnakis in an all Oz round 2 match. Then we caught the end of Bryan/Mattek-Sands beating Mirnyi/Bouchard in mixed doubles. Final game was Paes/Hingis, who still has class. An awesome experience & a dream come true.

Friday
Caught Hop on Hop off bus to the main tourist attractions in Paris. The combo ticket included a great boat ride along the River Seine, which gave yet another perspective on this beautiful city. We went into Notre Dame Cathedral, which was absolutely awe-inspiring, & climbed the Eiffel Tower (too many steps to count, but worth it for the view!).
Arc de triomph where the traffic was chaotic.
A Roland Garros tennis ball hanging from the Eiffel Tower.

Dinner at Ian's choice, the Hard Rock Cafe with Rachael, a former student of Jane's.

Special thanks to Ian & Sharon for taking the time to meet us in Paris & making it a very memorable time that was not long enough!
